I’m Liam Guest—a product-focused data scientist building practical, user-facing tools at the intersection of geospatial data, machine learning, and public impact.
I’m strongest when the problem is messy: I translate ambiguity into clear product direction by aligning stakeholders, defining success metrics, and shipping iterative solutions grounded in data and real user workflows.
Recently, I’ve led AURA (AI for Urban Resilience & Alerts), a funded project exploring explainable, census-tract-level storm risk modeling to support preparedness decision-making.
Based in Chicago and open to San Francisco (and other major hubs).
Education
Tulane University - Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health M.S.P.H. – Biostatistics & Data Science Admissions Ambassador (Three semesters) Teaching Assistant - Intro to Biostatistics (Three semesters) Grace Peake Scholarship Recipient New Orleans, LA | Dec 2025
Tulane University B.S. Public Health Scholarship: Academic Recognition Award Recipient New Orleans, LA | May 2024
University College Dublin Semester Abroad Dublin, Ireland | Sept 2023
Projects
Independent ML prediction platform and AI consultancy. Built and deployed AURA, a census-tract-level hurricane impact model covering 5,668 Gulf Coast tracts across 14 storms (R² = 0.924). Translates complex data problems into accessible, production-grade tools.
AURA is a public-facing hurricane risk assessment product designed to make disaster preparedness more transparent and actionable at the community level. It is built to support emergency planners and local decision-makers by identifying higher-risk census tracts to help prioritize preparedness and response resources. I secured $6,500 in competitive research funding and led the project end-to-end, defining the product vision, identifying user needs, and coordinating data science and engineering work from concept through launch. The product integrates FEMA and National Risk Index data to deliver interpretable machine learning estimates of disaster recovery costs at the census-tract level, supporting more informed preparedness and resource planning.
Tulane Data Collective is a student-led organization dedicated to advancing data science education and applied analytics at Tulane University. The group connects students from biostatistics, computer science, and public health to explore data-driven approaches to social impact, health, and AI innovation.
Designed and led a hands-on workshop teaching students how to build a Notion system for project planning and execution (databases, linked views, templates, and workflows). Created step-by-step materials, live demos, and a take-home template to help attendees apply the system immediately.
GenAI sales intelligence tool built in one week as a PM case study for Tempus AI. Ingests CRM notes, market volume data, and a clinical product knowledge base to generate a ranked oncology provider list, objection handler, and personalized meeting script. Built with the Anthropic API and streaming SSE. Shipped as a single HTML file with zero dependencies.
